Overview of the
Inside DH

Inside DH is a Türkiye-based academic platform dedicated to DH (Digital Humanities/ Dijital BeÅŸeri ve Sosyal Bilimler). While we cover global DH methodologies, tools, and discussions, our core mission is to pioneer digital scholarship specifically within the contexts of Turkish History, Ottoman Geography, Balkan Studies, and the Middle East. We aim to bridge the gap between universal digital techniques—such as text mining, GIS mapping, and network analysis—and the specific needs of regional archives and historiography. The IDH idea is to create the platform needed for DH studies in this region, which is still in its early stages of development.

Inside DH has 7 main headings designed to support researchers focusing on these geographies. In I-Review, we publish reviews of projects, scholarly works, datasets, and digital applications. How To DH, offers practical guidance on DH fundamentals, methods, and workflows, and aims to make digital approaches more accessible and to encourage new research. This section features interviews in written, podcast, and video formats. Craft, covers digital data collection (APIs, web scraping, online experiments, surveys) and analysis (NLP/text analysis, AI, agent-based modelling, networks, mapping, visualization). Actors, highlights people and organizations in DH to support networking and collaboration. Help Me!, provides clear guidance for researchers new to DH or seeking to strengthen ongoing work with digital methods. Sources curates essential readings and trusted web resources. Follow Up, shares announcements and opportunities (CfPs, fellowships, training) to strengthen communication across the DH community.
